Prince William ‘bothered’ by Meghan, Harry privacy demands

Prince William is reportedly fit to be tied with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s demands for privacy, in particular the way they handled the announcement of their baby’s birth, The Sun reports.

When Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born 20 months ago, Harry and Meghan did not go through the standard channels of announcing a royal birth. They apparently misled the public about the timing of the baby’s arrival to allow themselves a few more hours of privacy — apparently to the horror of the by-the-book William, and to the dismay of many royal fans who considered the secrecy selfish.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward, in an interview with Britain’s Channel 5, insisted that William was “bothered” by how Harry and William handled the privacy of their son’s birth.

“It wasn’t done in a very royal way, or the way we’d come to expect,” she said of Meghan and Harry’s preference for privacy and William’s dismay over the birth annoucement.

“But then Harry’s excuse was, ‘well I’m a private person’.”

“But you cannot be royal and be the sixth line to the throne and be a private person. I would think it might bother William a little bit,” Seward continued in her assessment of the fortress Meghan and Harry have built around themselves.

Express reports that Meghan and Harry might “snub” Prince Philip by leaving Archie behind in California should they travel to England to celebrate his grandfather’s 100th birthday in June.

Also coming up is the one-year review of the Megxit terms with Queen Elizabeth II at the end of March. Plus, the Queen turns 95 in April, and the official royal celebration for that, is in June.

There is a parade of royal obligations that the privacy minded Harry and Meghan are facing, including a potential uncomfortable reunion with William and Kate, even as the COVID-19 pandemic slams England.

Meghan and Harry are expected to return to Britain in summer to discuss the 12-month review of their post-royal life with senior members of the Firm. Royal watchers predict they’ll also want to celebrate Prince Philip’s astonishing 100th birthday in June, the Queen’s 95th official birthday that same month and the unveiling of the Princess Diana memorial statue on what would have been her 60th birthday in July.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could snub Philip and leave Archie in California

Claiming they were leaving the UK, and along with it the Queen, William, Kate, and Prince Charles, to protect their privacy from the prying British press corps, Harry and Meghan announced Megxit a year ago this month.

Express also claims that Harry’s private existence with Meghan in their lavish mansion in Montecito, California, has been a lonely one. He lacks any “roots or close confidants,” and has also suffered from frayed relations with William, who is thousands of miles away anyway.

Nevertheless, Daily Mail Femail editor Charlie Lankson said that the couple does not regret their choice to settle in the United States.

In a conversation with Access, Lankson said, “It hasn’t been an easy road for either of them.”

“You have to keep in mind that Harry has moved away from a life that he has only ever known.”

“He’s also moved away from his family, his closest friends,” Lankson said of Harry’s choice to leave William, his father and the rest of his life behind in favor of an attempt at a more private life with Meghan.

“He’s now living in a city where he doesn’t really have any roots or any close confidants.”

Lankson continued: “That really can’t be an easy thing. Similarly Meghan has had to dip into the Royal Family, try to get used to that life. Then dip back out again and forge a completely new lifestyle with her husband and her son.”

In lighter news, Rob Lowe, a neighbor of Meghan and Harry, reports that the privacy focused younger brother of Prince William has apparently started sporting a COVID ponytail, People reports.

“It was very, very quick — don’t totally quote me on it — but it looked like he’s wearing a ponytail,” the actor said. “I’m just saying. It looked to me as a casual observer that his hair had grown very long and was pulled back very tightly by what I can only assume was a ponytail.”
